Abstract
The article identifies the main stages of the formation of party system in modern Russia, considers the factors that influence its transformation. Parliamentary elections are the most important of these factors, since the period before and after the elections changes occur most dynamically. The author pays a special attention to the place and role of political parties in the modern political system of Russia, as well as their political image and authority in the eyes of citizens.
