Abstract

This study developed character testing for secondary school student athlete and decided on standard setting. The three delphi technique were assessed by the 20 physical education experts. First, delphi technique made six factors and 30-item(sincerity 5-item, consideration, 5-item, perseverance 5-item, passion 5-item, morality 5-item, cooperation 5-item). Second, delphi technique was utilized by closed inspection method and deleted one item in perseverance factor. Third, delphi technique was utilized by five points scale and deleted three items that were one item in perseverance factor and two items in passion factor. Finally, the 26-item was developed as character testing for secondary school student. The Rasch method was applied for standard setting. 400 secondary school student athletes were measured and Winsteps 5.3.2 programs were used to make the Rasch method standard setting. The six content specialists selected the key questions and the 70% mastery level was decided. The standard setting results were as follow. By the Rasch method, the standard settings of secondary school student athlete character testing were set with the total response score of 104 or more was the ‘correct character’, 86 to 103 was the ‘normal character’, and 85 or less was the ‘incorrect character’. The character test was developed for secondary school students in Korea and this test is necessary to secure external validity compared to other standard setting methods. This character test will be an evaluation test that cultivates the desirable character of secondary school student athletes.
