Abstract

The purpose of this study was to confirm the effect of dating violence(psychological) victim experience on interpersonal problems, and to verify whether the sense of self has a moderating effect as a protective factor. A total of 285 young adults in Korea participated in the study and relationship between their experiences of dating violence(psycholgical) and interpersonal problems was examined, and the moderating effect of sense of self in this relationship was verified. As a result, psychological violence was positively correlated with interpersonal problems. Interpersonal problems showed negative correlation with sense of self. The moderation effect of sense of self on the relationship between dating violence(psychological) and interpersonal problems was not significant. The necessity for intervention programs gearing toward positive sense of self inorder to fulfill one's purpose for reducing dating violence. The significance and limitations of this study were also discussed.
