Abstract

Gas pipeline is buried every place where we need gas for living or industry. Sometimes the pipe is buried along or across the river, in particular flood season, the pipe is exposed by local scour which is occurred violent wave of increased runoff discharge. In this study, for the sake of preventing of disclosure, channel bed changing has been simulated using two-dimension numerical model(SMS). The target area is junction of Anyangcheon and Dolimcheon and the lengths of each river are 400m and 600m. As a result, the scour depth is around 30cm at design flood discharge which is 25 % of legal limit depth(1.2m) caused by voltex at the drops at the end of Dolimcheon in the present situation. It could be serious influenced to buried gas pipe, so that the scoured area should be protected by bed pitching using slope drops method in this kinds of case. It will be helpful not only hydraulic safety for the buried gas pipe but also the landscape.
