Abstract

The study aims to prove the functioning of reality effect as an aspect and feelings in filmic experience. The article is a critical review of semiotic, psychoanalytic and analytical interpretations of the notion “spectator”, taking into consideration functional and expressive sides of impression and reality effect. Scientific novelty of the research lies in defining reality effect by introducing instances of displacement, replacement and addition into its analysis. As a result, it was substantiated that reality effect, as feelings accompanying filmic experience, simultaneously presents itself as one of its aspects retaining its specificity regardless of narrative, stylistic and genre features of a film.
