Abstract

A variant anatomical feature of the structure of the lungs is the result of a disorder of the processes of organ formation during prenatal development. One of the rare anomalies of important clinical significance is the accessory lobe of the lung. This congenital malformation may be asymptomatic, but at an older age it may have life-threatening clinical manifestations. In case of development of pathological changes in the tissue of the additional lobe, surgical treatment is required.
