Abstract

The purpose of this study was to present the basic data on improving the skill by analysis the kinematical variables of one-hand free throw in wheelchair basketball. The subjects of this study were six male wheelchair players registrated in wheelchair basketball athletes federation. Wheelchair basketball free throw motions were video taped by two video cameras and three-dimensional coordinates was processed by DLT method. The variables were the time duration, displacement, velocity, angle, and angular velocity during performing the free throw motion. The following conclusion was that: The time duration in performing wheelchair basketball free throw motion, backward motion showed longer than its of forward motion. The velocity of upper extremity was gradually increased and a smooth velocity transfer from proximal segment to distal segment. Elbow angular velocity showed greater than its of wrist and shoulder, most subject used forearm segment for extending the elbow joint than hand and upper arm segment. Therefore for improving free throw motion skill in wheelchair basketball players it should be trained the increase of wrist snap.
