Abstract
The aim of the study is to determine the level of theoretical elaboration of Crimean Tatar orthology and its reflection in modern speech practice. The paper characterises the reference books and textbooks of different genres published from the 1930s to the present in which different types of Crimean Tatar literary standards are reflected to varying degrees. The existing norms that had been laid down in the 1930s were not specifically considered and legitimised by the relevant state structures in subsequent years due to the tragic fate of the Crimean Tatar people. The above said determines the scientific novelty of the study. The analysis revealed that Crimean Tatar orthology has not been formed as a coherent and adequate system. Today, in the new geopolitical conditions (the Crimean Tatar language has the status of an official language on the territory of the Republic of Crimea since 2014), Crimean Tatar linguistics and the actual functioning of the literary language require a complete and correct set of different types of norms.
