Abstract

The article presents an analysis of the situation of providing water and energy resources to the most overpopulated region of the former post-Soviet republics in Central Asia. In the near future, the region’s water and energy problems may become not only a source of serious regional social and political tension, but also a factor in international politics. The author comes to the conclusion that one of the factors in solving the problems is the need to diversify the structure of the energy complex with the large-scale use of renewable energy sources.
