Abstract

The article analyzes attitudes, daily practices and resource strategies for intensive motherhood in a Russian single-parent family. Methodological basis. The methodological basis of the study is the resource approach, which made it possible to find out how woman combines the intensive motherhood practices and desire to independently provide the family with the means for a normal existence in conditions of low resources of single-parent family and to identify the resource strategies of a single-parent family in conditions of intensive motherhood. The authors present results of their own empirical study, which included face-to-face questioning, according to the results of which women who met the study criteria (single-parents implementing the model of intensive motherhood) were invited to take part in the second stage of the study using the semi-structured interview method. In total, 70 women living in Rostov-on-Don were interviewed and 6 interviews were conducted. Results and its discussion. The authors come to the conclusion that despite the lack of resources in a single-parent family, attitudes towards intensive motherhood are more pronounced than in a complete and more resourceful family. In single-parent families mothers show predisposition to child-centric attitudes, are more focused on the child, and even select employment in accordance with the interests of the child. According to the results of the study, three resource strategies for organizing the life of a single-parent family were identified: independent financial support for a family (based on the individual resources of a single mother); resources of the woman's parental family (a significant contribution to the upbringing of the child is made by the woman's parental family), as well as support of the child's father (including educational and material assistance).
