Abstract

The article presents results of a content analysis of speeches delivered by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation S. V. Lavrov. The findings allow concluding about the complicated, multi-aspect nature of the politician’s speech image. His involvement in broad communicative situation determines S. V. Lavrov’s strategic roles in speech discourse, such as “Goal-Setter”, “Decent and Polite Person” and “Strategist”, each of which is represented at the linguistic level. In general, S. V. Lavrov’s speech image is characterized by dichotomy since it is equally associated with social and political activity and with human values.
