Abstract
In the system of merchant shipping the transformation processes take a special place. Unbalanced dynamic development of regional subsystems of the global economy determines the peculiarities of the productive capacity of maritime transport companies. Differ contradictory task of ensuring the reliability of the transport service of the international division of labor. There intensity increasing transport capacity while increasing the requirements for safe navigation system. This in turn limits the positioning of new sea states in an effective and capital-intensive segments of the maritime trade. Therefore it is necessary to distinguish between form and feature variety of merchant fleet.
