Abstract
The purpose of this study is to redefinition the character and function of the Hunminjeongeum Haeryebon`s ‘Explanation on Combining the Letter’ text. For this, we analyzed each content element in detail to understand the function of ‘Explanations on Combining the Letters’. and they organically grasped their relationship. It is a general regulation of combining the letters notation. and it is a permissible regulation of the reality of language. As a result, the functions of ‘Explanations on Combining the Letters’ found in this study are as follows. First, it is the notation regulation text of Hunminjeongeum.
