Abstract
The article describes the systemic complex construction of a new compulsory course in the humanities in Russian universities "Fundamentals of Russian Statehood". The importance of discipline for Russian students in modern international conditions is emphasized. The importance of a thorough and thoughtful approach to teaching students in order to realize the significance and value of the state is substantiated. The actual tasks facing universities at the first stage of the reform implementation are determined and ways of their solution are proposed
