Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the planning characteristics of high-rise building development projects by comparing the selected 6 cases in terms of complex development background, master plan, and building plan. Each various development background influenced on the size and arrangement of uses, and caused differences of master plan, and consequently became an critical factor to decide the approaches to and design of high-rise buildings. New town development projects put an emphasis on the residential function with inner circulation, while urban renewal projects activated vertical connections on the basis of business functions to increase the efficiency of urban centers.
