Abstract

The article analyzes the main stages of the constitutional and legal regulation of national policy in post-Soviet Russia, provides a comparison of various program documents designed to ensure national unity and protect the rights of citizens regardless of their nationality. The author came to the conclusion that the normative acts adopted in the field of national policy are aimed at creating favorable conditions for the peoples living on the territory of the Russian Federation, are designed to provide them with protection of their national identity and culture. The author of the article makes proposals aimed at clarifying the term "national minorities" used in Russian legislation, on the development of constitutional provisions on the priority resolution of interethnic conflicts through state mediation with the participation of civil society institutions.
