Abstract
The article considers certain aspects of interjection functioning in a literary text. The introductory part covers the basic theoretical aspects of studying cognitive interjections in modern linguistics. Further on, after analysing the use of interjections in N. N. Nosov’s children prose, the researcher identifies five types of cognitive situations in accordance with the types of cognitive activity. They are as follows: identification, acceptance of information, knowledge obtained by observation, deduction or elucidation.
