Abstract

The article analyzes the versions of folklorized romances popular among the Southern Trans-Ural Cossacks. The author establishes the causes of this phenomenon: the folk culture requires the techniques of psychologism and sentimentalism when describing the feeling of love, moral education process. Systematization of the acquired material allowed the author to identify the epic romance-ballad and the lyrical everyday romance. The paper traces the processes of romance folklorization and transformation, emphasizes the original arrangement of songs assimilated by Cossack folklore, mentions the typical local features of a romance.
