Abstract

The article aims at sharing the realization of the experience of a rather complex regional history project: the reconstruction of rural schooling history at the regional and micro level. It outlines the major stages of heuristic effort to solve the determined research tasks. The accent has been made on the importance of the source basis for the educatory past studies that ought to be represented by archive materials, exposed documents, incunabula as well as narrative sources and “oral history” assets. The paper offers the structure model of the corresponding edition alongside with the unified algorithm of highlighting the rural school past and the present state. In particular, the author believes that every structural part of a historical block should comprise a concise characterization of: the local conditions of school development; the school material, technical and methodological basis development dynamics; the syllabi and curricula particularities; the specificity of educational process as well as of extracurricular and extramural activity organization, the quantitative and qualitative indices of the teaching staff structure; the analysis of educational process subjects’ living standards; the pupils’ equipment, stationary, accessories and school form; catering and leisure organization. The author emphasizes, that a concise account of most prominent school graduates’ accomplishments should make a separate segment of rural schooling studies. For such projects the use of popular-science style of writing is recommended, whereas the text requires appropriate photo illustrations. The paper provides implication for the conceptual-methodological and heuristic specificity of a rural school chronicle as national education history reconstruction through micro level cross section. On balance, this research vector has good prospects and is gnoseologically attractive.
