Abstract
The article outlines current trends and approaches to vocational training of elementary school teacher in modern socio-cultural conditions. It substantiates psychological, pedagogical, and methodological features of instruction of the elementary school teacher in the context of student-centered learning. At the stage of Ukraine’s integration into the European educational space, the priority area for institutions of higher pedagogical education is training a teacher of the new generation since the modern school needs teachers who can ensure students’ creative potential realization. The purpose of the student-centered professional pedagogical education is to prepare a teacher capable of self-education, self-development and self-development throughout life, a creative researcher able to analyze and experiment with the most rational ways, conditions, methods, means and forms to find the most effective solutions of specific educational issues, who shows respect to students’ personalities and recognizes their needs.
