Abstract

Objectives In this study, the possibility of multicultural education through the convergence of multiculturalism and specific academic fields was explored by exploring the process of college students participation in physical education-related multicultural education liberal arts lectures.
 Methods The responses of participants in the study were explored by collecting lecture reviews, assignments, class participation videos, and discussion journals by week, which are records of participation of 50 students participating in sports-related multicultural lectures, and analyzing them based on the grounded theory.
 Results The results obtained through the study showed that students who participated in the lecture with curiosity, familiarity with physical education, and interest in multiculturalism prior experience learned multicultural attitudes and values, knowledge of multiculturalism and physical education, and had an in-depth understanding of multiculturalism. Based on this, it was found that they tried to apply it to their own thoughts and lives, and through the administration stage of a new learning topic called multiculturalism and physical education, the lecture was conducted in the stage of correcting existing misunderstandings about multiculturalism and physical education and accepting it as new knowledge.
 Conclusions Through the student participation process of sports-related multicultural education lectures, a new possibility can be suggested that liberal arts education fused with various major areas can be used as multicultural education.
