Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the current status of the magazine's founding issue owned by the Gachon Museum and the philosophy of the museum's founder, and to present a plan for the preservation and utilization of the magazine. As a result of the study, the Gachon Museum was listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest collection of more than 20,000 first editions in Korea, including rare and unique editions. In addition, this study suggested that the establishment of digital archives (digital standardization of analog data, card news production of original content, metaverse use, audio book conversion of mixed text in Korean and Chinese), museum education (including education on the value of museum founders as well as contents), government financial and institutional support and public interest are needed. Through this, this study is meaningful in providing practical and academic implications to the magazine industry and publishing academia, which are seeking new possibilities.
