Abstract

The author examines the legal features of the activities of volunteers in military conflicts. The article considers the definition of a volunteer (combatant) in international practice in the context of military operations. The author proposes mechanisms of implementation of voluntary activity in the context of international law. International law recognizes the legitimacy of the use of force as a means of self-defense, the use of collective security measures, as well as national liberation war as a means arising from the principle of self-determination of peoples. In Russian legislation, it is necessary to adjust the activities of volunteers participating in military conflicts on their territory.
