Abstract
공공도서관은 지역사회의 모든 주민에게 지식정보와 평생교육을 제공하고 정보접근을 도와주며 정보격차를 줄여주는 중추적인 기관으로서의 역할을 수행하기 위하여 설립·운영되고 있다. 그러나 국내의 경우, 특히 지역사회의 지식정보 취약계층으로 간주되는 시각장애인을 위한 공공도서관 서비스가 상당히 부실하고 시각장애인도 공공도서관을 거의 이용하지 않고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 시각장애인이 공공도서관을 이용하지 않는 이유에 대한 인식도를 다각도로 조사·분석하여 상관성이 높은 공통된 요인을 추출하고 왜 그러한 결과가 나타났는지에 대해 살펴봄으로써 그들의 정보접근 및 이용권을 보장하는 동시에 공공도서관의 이용을 활성화하는데 기여하고자 한다.
