Abstract

The drone’s performance in Azerbaijan-Armenia war showed a new aspect of war: drone war. Therefore, this study analyzed the results of Azerbaijan-Armenia war to derive implications that even small and medium-sized countries such as Azerbaijan can use drones in a wide range and aggressively as a game changer of battlefield. In addition, the acquisition systems and operation methods for drones of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Korea were compared in this study. Through this, we analyzed the drone combat system in the ROK and suggested the development direction of the operational concept and structure for drones, the improvement of the drone acquisition system, etc. Amid the changes in troop reduction and defense reform, the drone combat system is an inevitable option. In addition, in order to cope with the threats of North Korea and neighboring countries in the future, drone combat system has to be adopted and its development is necessary.
