Abstract

The article deals with one of the most important problems of modern society - the patriotic education of younger schoolchildren. The views of outstanding teachers of different historical periods on this problem, as well as the ideas of representatives of the Soviet system of education, are analyzed. The importance of organizing the process of patriotic education in elementary school based on the integration of such components as cognitive, emotional and behavioral is emphasized. Examples of the implementation of the goals of educating a citizen and a patriot are given - the formation of a sense of belonging to the fate of one's Motherland, respect for its historical past and traditions, family values, respect for the nature of one's native land in lessons on such primary school subjects as literary reading, the world around, fine arts, as well as in the course of extracurricular practical activities of schoolchildren.
