Abstract

The paper aims to reveal artistic originality of poetry by Vasily Stepanovich Loginov (1891-1945/1946?), journalist, poet and prose-writer who lived and worked in Harbin and was almost neglected by Russian literary critics. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the researcher reconsiders the established stereotypes taking their origin from contemporaries’ memories. As a result, it is shown that Loginov’s poetical heritage has its own value and is not less important than his prosaic works. The researcher argues that Loginov’s poetry should not be associated with Valery Bryusov and “Bryusov School”, but should be considered in the context of poetics adopted by the authors of “Satirikon” magazine: Sasha Chorny, Pyotr Potyomkin and others. Humorous orientation of Loginov’s poetry (irony and sarcasm) does not diminish his high poetical culture and refined poetical technique developed under the influence of his senior contemporaries, among which Bryusov occupies a significant but not a superior place.
