Abstract

The review deals with a few recent studies on the writings by the Antoine François Prévost and pay special attention to his novels The History of the Chevalier des Grieux and Manon Lescaut (1731), The History of young Commander (1741), and The Dean of Killerine (1735-1740). The reviewed works clarify some features of the genre of memoir-novel, examine functions of the free indirect discourse, outline the evolution of the conception of The Dean of Killerine (1735-1740), analyze «prison» as a particular space, and follow transformations of characters’ images.
