Abstract
This article discusses the issue of digitalization of the economy. The evidence base is provided that mechatronics is the foundation for the introduction of innovations, including those that have a digital nature. The experience of a number of countries shows that mechatronics is an important industry, the development of which greatly stimulates economic growth. That is why programs for the development of mechatronics and robotics are being developed and taken under supervision and control at the state level. These processes are typical for the Russian economy.
