Abstract

The purpose of the study is to identify historical structures in the modern Oroqen ornament. Scientific novelty of the study lies in determining the structural stratifications of different epochs and the reasons for their appearance in the modern Oroqen decorative pattern. The result of the study amounts to formulating a hypothesis that the modern Oroqen ornament preserved elements of the ancient hunting culture of the minor ethnic group, was focused on reflecting peculiarities of the small-numbered people’s environment in its basis and was also impacted by the culture of neighbouring peoples. Today, the traditional Oroqen ornament is an element of the tourist culture of Northeast China, a bright detail in the decoration of ethnic clothing and crafts made of natural material.
