Abstract

The proposed wave energy converter (WEC) consists of the inner vibrating system and the outside buoy. Its two degree-of-freedom model is developed and utilized to evaluate the performance of WEC. The three-stage stiffness system is introduced in the vibrating system for increasing the frequency bandwidth of the WEC. The frequency responses of the output power for respective stiffness stage are plotted and it is shown that the proposed WEC can harvest the oscillating energy of the ocean wave in the broad frequency range.
