Abstract

This study aims to investigate ways to improve the aquatic plant landscape of by evaluating the landscape preference of aquatic plants. Aquatic plant survey and AHP technique were adopted of three representative urban wetland parks in Nanchang city of China. An on-site survey of aquatic plants and their wetland landscapes was conducted for quantitative factor evaluation, and images of each urban wetland were analysed for qualitative factor evaluation. The research results are as follows. First, 25 factors for the evaluation of aquatic plant landscape from previous studies were extracted to 9 factors of plant species diversity, plant ornamental characteristics diversity, seasonal diversity of plant landscape, diversity of plant life types, harmony between plants and the overall environment, harmony between plants and hard landscape, harmony between plants and habitats, plant health(vitality), accessibility of plant landscape. Second, through the AHP evaluation of the 9 factors, the weights of the three factors of plant species diversity(0.315), plant ornamental characteristics diversity(0.147) and harmony between plants and the overall environment were(0.153) represents 61.5% of the landscapes. The resulting factors become the priority considerations for the development of the preference for aquatic plants in wetland landscapes of Chinese. Third, Preference results with 9 quantitative and qualitative evaluation factors to each park, were Yuzhouwan(0.42) > Xianghu(0.35) > Aixihu(0.23). In case of Yuzhouwan, Its very high availability of hydrophilic space is reflected in the evaluation results that it has good accessibility and high species diversity with various water depths.
