Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the process of insight into the growth of music therapists who grew up as child of multicultural families. The researcher is a child of a multicultural family and a music therapist, and this study was analyzed using the Auto-ethnography method. First, the researcher experienced parental conflict, peer bullying, and reproach due to the background of multicultural families. And the researcher experienced low self-esteem and emotional difficulties. Second, the researcher had difficulty growing professionally due to past wounds in the process of training as a music therapist. Nevertheless, the researcher gained inner strength by insighting wounds and multicultural backgrounds. Through this, the researcher was able to achieve personal and professional growth as a music therapist. The results of the study help understanding of the lives of children from multicultural families at the personal and socio-cultural levels. In addition, it is meaningful to convey the growth experience as a music therapist.
