Abstract

Objectives The purpose of this study is to explore the content elements of the elementary school character improvement curriculum in order to solve the problems of character education that takes place in a responsive way in terms of life education. Methods In order to extract the content elements of the curriculum, the certification education program of the Personality Education Support Center was analyzed, and the contents included in the program were categorized to derive the characteristics and contents to be included. Results The content elements of the elementary school character improvement curriculum can be divided into socialization, self-esteem, interpersonal relationships, values, and citizenship. Among them, interpersonal content elements were divided into play time, bullying, equal opportunity, response to special needs, educational resources, and sex education. Conclusions Based on the results of the study, this study concluded that when the curriculum content related to character education can be established and can be universally applied to educational activities throughout elementary school, students can grow into human beings with the character we expect.
