Abstract

The family is the most fundamental environment for the young children with special needs. The detailed insight on the experience of the special education teachers for young children and the family need to be conducted to reveal the significance of the relation and the collaboration between the special teacher for young children and the family. The purpose of this study were to investigate and to understand the special education teachers’ experience on the family of young children with special needs. The special education teachers for young children’ experience was inductively analyzed according to themes based on van Manen’s hermeneutic phenomenological study. The study participants were 11 special education teachers who had been taught in preschool. Data collection was conducted by the individual interview and the group interview with the teachers. As a results of analysis, 15 sub-themes and 6 essential themes were revealed. For educational practice, the forming a relationship process and the practical collaboration between the special education teachers and the family of young children with special needs were revealed through the study. Furthermore, theses results would be the valuable data for a consideration of the plan for strengthen the special education teachers for young children’ ability to collaborate and to form a good relationship with the family of the young children with special needs.
