Abstract

The research analyzes the views of young people on the desired social and labor mobility based on the data obtained from a sociological survey. 1,000 people aged 14-30 living in the city of Vladimir were polled. The paper addresses the current issues of the preferred field of work, desired salary, and factors in achieving success of the respondents. The social and labor mobility strategy of young people is considered to be pragmatic and rational. The level of remuneration is the main job selection criterion for them. The younger generation shows a weak desire to work in its major field. In their professional activities, young people are able to fulfill their potential and tend to rely primarily on themselves. In the youth opinion, the economic situation in the country exerts a powerful effect on social and labor mobility. The qualities necessary for career development include a high level of education and proficiency, personal relationship with useful people.
