Abstract
The article examines the problems of sociocultural communication in the multicultural world of the XXI century. The multilingualism phenomenon is considered as a factor promoting the formation of the dialogic element of cultures. The paper emphasizes the role of multilingualism as an important mechanism to solve crosscultural conflicts in the context of identity problems and considering the need to overcome cross-cultural barriers, cultural gaps, to raise the level of cultural and linguistic tolerance. Multilingualism in the context of trance-culture comes out as a means to create the space of an individual’s potential identities.
