Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the factors that determined the high crime rate among officials in the Russian province of the 18th century. On the example of the Novgorod province, the features of the law enforcement practice of the judicial authorities on malfeasance are characterized. The reasons for the ineffectiveness of state policy on combating crimes of official malfeasance are determined.
