Abstract
Through the category “truth” there is an integration into the Russian language of borrowed legal concepts, in particular, the concepts of law. An analysis of various interpretations of the content of the concept of “truth” at the beginning, in the first quarter and the second half of the 19th century shows the dynamics of socio-political relations and the development of public consciousness, including the development of legal thought. The concept of “truth” in a theoretical way is used to reveal the essence of law, in practical terms it serves as a means of limiting power in the interpretation and use of law for political purposes.
