Abstract

In the article the author presents the results of studying the morphological and anatomical features in the raw material of the above-water leaves of Nuphar lutea using macroscopic and microscopic analyses, as well as the qualitative composition of the extract of the leaves of Nuphar lutea. The rhizomes of Nuphar lutea were selected as a pharmacopoeial raw material for comparison to confirm a similar component composition. The studies were conducted in accordance with the requirements of the general pharmacopoeia articles. The characteristic macroscopic and microscopic features of the leaves of Nuphar lutea were revealed, the qualitative composition was similar to the rhizomes of this plant. To assess the presence of certain groups of alkaloids, a method unusual for pharmacognostic analysis was proposed – microcrystalline analysis. When evaluating the prospects for use, it was revealed that the leaves of Nuphar lutea can potentially become a more environmentally friendly substitute for the pharmacopoeial raw materials of the rhizomes of Nuphar lutea, and also have a number of distinctive pharmacological properties
