Abstract

The scientific article provides an overview of the concepts and definitions of false information (fake news) in the information content of modern electronic mass media, as well as the results of media research. Fake news is considered as one of the threats that have arisen in the context of the expansion of the scale and speed of information dissemination in the global information space. An assessment of the effectiveness and efficiency of the experience of combating disinformation in the media space of Kazakhstan based on the media anti-fake practice of websites is given www.factcheck.kz and www.sopfake.kz. The methods and techniques of combating disinformation, which over the past decade has become one of the tools of information warfare, are described. The websites www.factcheck.kz and www.sopfake.kz practice confirms the need to turn the procedures of fact-checking and verification of information into an integral part of the modern editorial process and to create in each media its own fact-checking units. In the context of the development of domestic journalistic education in within the framework of the growing number of fake news and the relative lag of journalistic education from the requirements put forward by the mass media market, the necessity of cultivating the skills and competencies of journalists associated with the development of “fact-checking consciousness” and improving the quality and reliability of news information material provided by modern mass media is emphasized. In the period of information wars, the post-truth, the development of social networks as sources of information, one of the primary needs of the media is the training of journalists who are able to professionally carry out work in the field of fact-checking and data verification.
