Abstract

Investigations have shown the widespread of periodontal disease. The etiopathogenesis of this disease is often linked to a number of complex factors such as innate immunity, acquired immunity, genetic predisposition and influence of the environment. Investigations conducted in the previous decade were specifically focused on the systemic reasons of periodontal disease. Important factors in the etiologies of the development of the inflammatory periodontal disease are infectious agents as well as disruptive results of the immune system response. Genetic factors can be more important in the etiopathogenesis of the aggressive form of periodontal disease compared to the chronicle form.
