Abstract

In the world of management, the competency-based approach is becoming increasingly widespread, which is based on the recognition of the important role of the human factor in any modern business processes. The quality and effectiveness of practical tasks and the results obtained depend on the quality level of training of specialists and the compliance of their knowledge with the requirements of specific work. Despite the fact that the topic of competency-based management has been covered to a certain extent, a fairly wide range of issues remains uncertain. This concerns both the theoretical justification of the definitions of competencies, competencies, competency models, and the practical application of the competency-based approach to process management in a specific area, namely in project management. The specificity of the latter is associated with the influence of a rapidly changing environment and poor predictability of the implementation of the projects themselves and their results. In this regard, the set of required competencies and their content often change, which negatively affects the quality of project implementation, especially in the field of IT technologies.
