Abstract
Regional innovation ecosystem – a set of institutions located in the territory, which determine the level of regional innovation development and its scientific, technical and industrial specialization. Elements of the innovation system are formed, mainly, evolutionarily, depending on the conditions for the development of the territory. The article makes a historical analysis of the factors that form the elements of the ecosystem at the regional level, making the main contribution to the overall potential of the Russian economy. The features of the development of innovative ecosystems of large cities, as well as specialized regional entities (technopolises, academic campuses, technology-innovative zones) are highlighted. Based on statistical data, it is shown that there is a relationship between the saturation of the innovation ecosystem with the main elements and the level of innovation activity in the region. The authors raise questions about the criteria that determine the specialization of regions in terms of innovation development, about the necessary level of sovereignty of ecosystems, and the mechanisms of interaction between regions.
