Abstract

The article considers structural peculiarities of the Russian and English exclamatory sentences. The paper aims to reveal the basic structural types of exclamatory sentences and to identify, which of them are most frequent in the analysed languages. Originality of the study lies in the fact that the author for the first time suggests a structural classification of the Russian and English exclamations taking into account their basic types and subtypes. The findings indicate that the Russian and English exclamatory sentences are similar in many ways because they serve to express emotions inherent to the European culture representative.
