Abstract

The article analyzes the traditional wedding ceremony of the Chechens, which is an important part of their ethnic culture, establishing the social status of new families who have gathered to intermarry. Wedding ceremonies are focused on the creation of a new family, a couple entering into marriage in order to continue the ethnocultural continuity, continuing the history of one kind or another. The wedding ceremony is the most important part of the culture of that other people, a kind of mechanism of “regulation within ethnic ties”, the action of which implies the unification of the activities of individuals by including them in the system of social institutions. At the same time, individuals internalize group norms and values, remove emotional tensions that arise in everyday communication, and, finally, the social significance of such a life situation as entering into family and marriage relations is affirmed.
