Abstract

The question is considered how it is possible to assimilate the data which are necessary to determine the initial conditions for integration of the general oceanic circulation models. The fundamental difference of such assimilation in comparison with similar assimilation of the data on the initial atmospheric condition is specified. This difference results from an essential spatial inhomogeneity of the oceanic processes in coastal zones and in vicinities of the main oceanic currents in comparison with the open ocean.
