Abstract

This study examined the mediating effect of perceived stress in the effect of aging anxiety ondepression in middle-aged women and confirmed whether self-compassion mediates thesemediating effects. To this end, 308 middle-aged women aged 40 to 59 in Korea were measuredfor aging anxiety, depression, perceived stress, and self-compassion. Regression analysis andbootstrapping were used to analyze the data collected in this study through SPSS MacroPROCESS. The research results are as follows: Frist, Perceived stress partially mediated theinfluence aging anxiety and depression. second, The moderating effect of self-compassion wassignificant in the influence perceived stress and depression. Third, self-compassion moderatedthe mediating effect of perceived stress on the relationship between aging anxiety anddepression. Based on these results, we tried to discuss that intervention through self-compassioncan be helpful to reduce depression in middle-aged women in counseling.
