Abstract
This study aims to investigate the conceptual metaphors of love in the bible and finds out what their characteristics are in terms of the cognitive linguistic approach. Love is understood in terms of physical experience, nature, living things, the necessities of life, and human. Through such conceptualization, the characteristics of love in the bible can be easily understood. It is suggested that Christians in those days have had metaphorical thinking about love like modern people, but they have different conceptualization about love in other aspects because of religious reasons. Finally, this research concludes that there are fourteen conceptual metaphors showing their distinct structural features and the one common fundamental structure regarding love in the bible.
