Abstract

This study aims to understand retro design and identify the characteristics and meanings related to emotional design. For this purpose, the definition of Retro and its relationship with emotional design were examined through literature research, and Retro Design was classified into two types, Sustainable Retro and Reinterpretation Retro. Through the analysis of the classification of retro design, We structurally organized the two classifications of retro design by comparing them with the three stages of emotional design, and based on the cases that appear according to the structure, we organized the features of retro design into three types of emotions: formal, which is based on vision, meaningful, which is based on behavior, and value, which is based on meaning, and identified the meaning of each. We hope that this study will help researchers who want to identify new perspectives of retro design as a basic research.
